Gene regulation | Deep learning | Machine learning
Hi! Welcome to Hou Lab @ UESTC (YDRI).
I'm Dr. Hou Ruiyan, and I lead a small team within Prof. Zou Quan's research group at the Yangtze Delta Region Institute (Quzhou), University of Electronic Science and Technology of China!
We leverage machine learning to model biological information flow across multiple scales. Our current work spans three interconnected areas: (1) uncovering the regulatory mechanisms underlying transcription and RNA processing using single cell and spatial multi-omics data; (2) developing machine learning driven computational methods to identify and characterize alternative splicing, transcription initiation, and termination events at single cell and spatial resolution; and (3) collaborating with clinicians to investigate tumor heterogeneity, microenvironmental organization, and clinically relevant biomarkers through single cell and spatial transcriptomic analyses. By integrating computational methodology, multi-omics data, and clinical expertise, we aim to advance the mechanistic understanding of gene regulation and translate molecular discoveries into precision oncology applications.
